Each year, more and more men and women seek treatment to change the appearance of their body by removing excess fat. For many years, this was achieved through liposuction, the most popular cosmetic procedure in the US. As new techniques developed, different methods became available to help minimize the risks and downtimes of traditional liposuction through safer and more effective methods.

LaserSculpt, also known as Smartlipo or Slimlipo, is a less invasive alternative to conventional liposuction that offers fat reduction and body toning/sculpting through the most cutting-edge technology. LaserSculpt uses laser energy to rupture and liquefy fat cells before easily removing them from the body.

LaserSculpt and other laser lypolysis are the only FDA-cleared laser fat removal systems that offer effective results through minimally invasive techniques. It was cleared in November 2006 after extensive use in other countries around the world over the past 10 years. According to Cynosure, LaserSculpt has quickly become one of the most successful liposuction procedures in cosmetic surgery. Since FDA clearance, over 2,000 Laser LipoSculpture procedures have been performed in the US.

Liposuction has been performed for decades through conventional methods that require injecting fluid into a certain area and then suctioning the fat out. This procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia and carries risks such as infection, excessive bleeding and blood clots. Tumescent liposuction, also known as liposculpture, was later offered as a safer alternative that required only a local anesthetic and “inflated” the fat before removing it. This procedure lets patients stay awake during the procedure and assist the doctor in completing the fat removal.

While other laser and minimally invasive techniques are currently available, they do not offer the same advantages as LaserSculpt. Competitors lack FDA clearance and are usually much more costly for both doctor and patient. These devices are also not as strong as LaserSculpt and require several treatments in order to reach the desired results, driving up costs even further.

LaserSculpt is only available for doctors with previous liposuction experience. After purchasing the system, doctors must undergo training from a designated professional trainer. This helps ensure that only the most experienced and educated doctors can perform your Laser LipoSculpture procedure.
